City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

2010-02-08

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on February 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins; Council members:  Curt Johnson, Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Visitors:  Mike Johnson, Hometown Sanitation

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes of the January 11, 2009 were approved as read.

Mike Johnson reported that Hometown Sanitation completed a door to door on January 16, 2010.  Many residents were gone but they hung door hangers on those homes.

Johnson explained that they have a new option for Jeffers, which will reduce waste at the landfill and is more environmentally friendly.  The Tag option:  residents who choose not to use cart service can purchase tags instead of bags.  Customers then stick the tag on their own bag or container.  Hometown will offer a Bag and Tag kit which includes both a 10-pack of garbage bags and 10 tags for $17 and $21.  Tags can be purchased for $14 and $18.  The first day for Hometown Sanitation to pickup is March 5, 2010.

Bids have been received from two local car dealerships for a city pickup.

The clerk will check into sending a letter to a resident regarding the garbage in the back of their vehicles on Whited Street.  The clerk will also check with Lance to see if any vehicles have been hindering the snow removal process and send letters to those residents.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Johnson, second Determan to adjourn the meeting having no further business at 8:30 p.m.
