City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on June 25, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins, Council members:  Roberta Duroe, Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Lance Holmen, Maintenance., Sharen Goeman, Clerk.   
 
Visitors: Mychael Swan  Agrinatural Gas LLC
             Chad Luck, Gus Heffele, Kathy Matzke, Norm Johnson,
             Mr. & Mrs. George Redman
 
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes from the June 11, 2012 meeting were approved as read.
 
Mychael Swan from Agrinatural Gas company was present to explain possibly bringing natural gas to Jeffers.
 
Swan reported that natural gas is half the cost of LP and one-third the cost of fuel oil.  The steps involved to start the process of bringing natural gas to Jeffers are as follows:
 
-   Grant franchise  agree to be the regulatory body.
-   Agrinatural Gas will drop off leaflets, advertise and talk with the residents to determine feasibility of bringing the gas to Jeffers.
-   Agrinatural takes care of all permits, etc.
 
Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to grant Agrinatural Gas a franchise.
 
The clerk was instructed to have the city attorney review the franchise.
 
After reviewing fund balances and upcoming bond payments the council will check into finding a company to pave Woodman this year if possible.
 
Building permits from Ivan Carter, Jr. were reviewed to add a storage shed and to move a deck on his house.
 
Motion Ryker, second Duroe, unanimous vote to approve the permits
 
The clerk presented a procedures letter from Burkhardt and Burkhardt.  Motion Duroe, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to approve the letter.
 
Outlaw Days vendors will be using City Hall on Saturday.
 
The Mayor reported he spoke with David Determan regarding the tile near Determans tower.  Determans will have it fixed as soon as possible.
 
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
 
Motion Ryker, second Determan unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:24 p.m. having no further business,
