City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on November 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones. Sharen Goeman, Clerk. Absent: Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the October 22, 2012 meeting were approved as read.

Old business of Agrinatural Gas was discussed. Sharen reported that she spoke with Mychael Swan and he plans to attend the January 14, 2013 council meeting and bring a franchise agreement for signature.

Election results were reviewed. Mayor Prins and Council persons Robert Duroe and Curt Determan were all re-elected.

New business was the 2011-12 Fire Pay and financial reports. The pay and reports were reviewed by the council.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to increase the fire pay, training and fire hours all to $12/hour effective November 1, 2012.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to approve the pay and financial report.

Resolution #2012-03 Corporate Resolution for Authorized Representatives was reviewed by the council. The resolution names Mayor Brad Prins and Clerk/Treasurer Sharen Goeman as having full power and authority in working with Edward Jones.

Introduced by Ryker, seconded by Duroe, unanimous vote.

The Winter Agreement from the Cottonwood County Highway Department was reviewed. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve the agreement of $600 for November, December, January, February and March.

Fall cleanup was discussed. The Hometown Sanitation bill was $818.74 and the Cottonwood County landfill bill was $316.32 for a total of $1,135.06.

For the few residents that had extra-large piles, it will be determined at the next meeting as to how much to charge them.

Mayor Prins reported for Lance regarding a street sweeping business from Yankton, SD. Road Guy would be able to sweep the streets for approximately $1,500 - $2,000. Motion Determan, second Duroe, unanimous vote to hire the Road Guy.

The December 10, 2012 city council meeting will begin at 8 p.m.

The clerk will include the time change in the water bills.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:52 p.m. having no further business.
